Tickets Tip #10: Last blog post - see page for more

This is the last blog post I will write regarding tickets tips.

If you're interested in the tips, check back daily on the tickets tip page on OHCanada Sports. I will keep posting suggestions there as more information is available regarding which athletes/teams are competing in which sessions. Click here to see the daily tips.

Today's tip is to be available tomorrow morning (Monday July 6th).

Many (up to now) sold out events will have tickets released at 11am on Monday. Often times at events, they hold back tickets until they know how many they need for athletes, coaches, families and entourage.

If you're very disappointed in missing out on sold out events, here's your chance. I'm not sure if they will make it easy for us by having links to the individual events with added tickets or whether we need to know what we want, so I would suggest being ready in case they make it difficult.

A few days ago, this is what I posted:

Sold out events include:
  • Cycling BMX
  • Cycling Track
  • Canoe Kayak Slalom
  • Equestrian jumping sessions
  • Modern Pentathlon
  • Open Water Swimming (Men is sold out, women almost sold out)
  • Trampoline
  • Triathlon
  • Waterski and Wakeboard
  • Synchronized swimming medal sessions.
  • Many gold medal games; bronze medal games; Team Canada games and weekend tickets.

Almost sold out events:
  • Bowling
  • Canoe Kayak Sprint
  • Road Cycling
  • Diving
  • Equestrian Eventing
  • Fencing
  • Handball
  • Roller Sports - Figure Skating
  • Roller Sports - Speed Skating
  • Shooting
  • Squash
Many of the "almost sold out events" are now sold out.

So be ready at 11am to snatch up the few tickets that will be made available. Good luck!

Tickets Tip #7: Beach Volleyball

I was going to recommend getting tickets to see our flag bearer Mark Oldershaw today, but tickets completely sold out for canoe kayak sprint since yesterday.

So I will recommend the event that I bought a ticket for last week. Tickets for beach volleyball pool matches include four games, so great value for the money. Canada is playing in the first match of the session unless otherwise specified.

Competing for Canada:
Women: Melissa Humana-Paredes and Taylor Pischke

Tickets Tip #6: Get Your Tickets Now!

Get your tickets now before they sell out! Don't forget to use the discount code CIBCPANAM to get 25% off until Thursday July 2nd at 9pm.

It's been in the news for the past few months. Pan Am Tickets are only 25% sold, only 33% sold, only 40% sold, so I haven't worried about not getting the tickets I would want to add to the ones I already have.

I had early tickets to 7 events and figured I would buy tickets closer to the date of events when I knew who would be competing. Selfishly wanting to get as many tickets as my pocketbook can afford, I wanted to make sure that I was seeing my favourite athletes.

So with the media reporting that ticket sales were not very good, I didn't worry. I thought that there was lots of time to get tickets.

I recently started a "daily tickets tip" to help potential Pan Am spectators choose which tickets to buy because looking through the different sports and events schedules can be daunting. I was hoping to make it a bit easier for people to get their tickets.

I'm now realizing that I may not get as far as I wanted with my ticket recommendations. Will I have a recommendation left in two weeks? Looking at tickets for various sports, a LOT MORE than I imagined are already sold.

I initially purchased tickets for events that I was guaranteed to see my Canadian favourites (plus the two ceremonies). Five of those seven events are now sold out! I'm thankful to have ordered early.

Sold out events include:
  • Cycling BMX
  • Cycling Track
  • Canoe Kayak Slalom
  • Equestrian jumping sessions
  • Modern Pentathlon
  • Open Water Swimming (Men is sold out, women almost sold out)
  • Trampoline
  • Triathlon
  • Waterski and Wakeboard
  • Synchronized swimming medal sessions.
  • Many gold medal games; bronze medal games; Team Canada games and weekend tickets.

Almost sold out events:

  • Bowling
  • Canoe Kayak Sprint
  • Road Cycling
  • Diving
  • Equestrian Eventing
  • Fencing
  • Handball
  • Roller Sports - Figure Skating
  • Roller Sports - Speed Skating
  • Shooting
  • Squash
The media may be trying to share the message that the Pan Am Games aren't popular but I will argue that there are tickets that I would have bought that are now sold out. It's also understandable for events where Canada is not competing to not sell out.

I believe that ticket sales for the Pan Am Games have been very successful and the current 25% off discount offered by CIBC will help sales even more.

Tickets Tip #5: Canada Day Sale

Now's the time to buy your Pan Am tickets if you've been procrastinating or are wanting to buy more.

CIBC is offering 25% discount on all remaining tickets from 10am Wednesday July 1st to 9pm Thursday July 2nd. Use the code CIBCPANAM.

Also Swimming Canada have been offering 20% off some swimming tickets (mostly more expensive ones).
Click here for more information and to buy tickets. Use discount code SWIM20.

Here's a sneak preview for tomorrow's Ticket Tip:

The media may be trying to share the message that the Pan Am Games aren't popular and that ticket sales are lagging, but I will argue that there are tickets that I would buy but the events are now sold out.
I thought that I would buy more tickets once I learned when Canadians were competing, but looking at tickets for various sports, a LOT MORE than I imagined are already sold.
